The CITY OF VAUGHAN is one of the most active markets in the GTA in commercial and industrial development. Vaughan is home to more than 9,000 businesses. Employment growth remains very strong and is projected to increase to 275,900 jobs by 2031.
The City continues to be one of Canada’s fastest growing cities. It has seen unprecedented growth over the past two decades and additional growth is planned. The current population of 284,000 people is expected to grow to 418,000 by 2031. Population-driven employment is rising in response to the growth experienced.

The City’s economic base includes manufacturing, wholesale trade, construction trades, transportation and logistics. An innovative technology sector is emerging, with products ranging from communications, space laser instrumentation, green automotive technologies, building technologies, video and computer gaming technologies.
The City continues to attract large-scale investment by keeping infrastructure at the forefront- planning and construction is underway on the York-Spadina Subway Extension connecting downtown Toronto to the heart of Vaughan’s future downtown core- the Metropolitan Centre; while the planned extension of Highway 427 through the Vaughan Enterprise Zone, will give unparalleled access to the more than 2,400 acres available for industrial and commercial development.
