The Town of Georgina is located approximately one hour North of Toronto. It is composed of three communities including Keswick, Sutton and Pefferlaw, with a population of approximately 47,000. The Town of Georgina features over 52 kilometres of Lake Simcoe’s south-eastern shores.
Lake Simcoe is large, clean lake that beckons visitors from a vast distance for its great boating and year-round world renown fishing opportunities. Along the scenic lake side roads, visitors have access to a number of beaches, natural parks, regional forests, marinas, harbours and other attractions.
The Town is proposing to develop a Business Park comprised of approximately 235 ha of land generally located on the east side of Woodbine Avenue, south of the Maskinonge River and west of the planned Highway 404 extension, with a potential to provide between 6,500 to 7,500 new jobs. Medium and large sized firms in Georgina include: Kesmac, Buchner Manufacturing Inc., Simcoe Coach Lines, Brouwer Wood Products, J. C. Trailers, Crates Marina and the Briars Resort.
Within the Town, the majority of growth and development is occurring in the southern most community of Keswick, where a significant portion of the lands abutting the west side of Woodbine Avenue are designated commercial and employment areas. The retail and commercial area along the Woodbine Corridor as well as the Keswick Business Park are in the early stages of development; this corridor averages 25,000 cars/day.
