The York Region Employment Survey is the largest and most comprehensive collection of employment locations across the Region’s nine local municipalities.
Background Information
The York Region Employment Survey collects information such as Company Name, Address, Key Contact, Business Activity and Number of Employees for nearly 28,000 businesses, effectively promoting the York Region business community to the general public.
The dataset has continually grown, with the number of businesses increasing 2.4% annually between 2001 and 2011. As of 2011, there were an estimated 516,000 jobs in the Region.
Recent employment growth in a number of industry sectors has contributed to the diversification of an already broad-based economy. This diversification helps to insulate our economy from sectoral shifts in the business cycle.

Note: The 2011 York Region Employment Survey includes companies with a physical presence in York Region e.g. office/retail/warehouse/factory locations, but excludes home and farm based businesses.
